random thoughts from slide65

"hand-shaping is critical to the evolution of the surfboard. It has been passed down from generation to generation... Hand-shaping really is the soul of the surfboard and in many ways the soul of surfing itself.
It will be a sad day if the hand-shaped surfboard ever goes away."
— Greg Noll

Parry’s first shape for slide 65

Gifted surfer and waterman James Parry has been hanging out in the shaping bay recently. With a clear vision of what he wants to create and under the pressure cooker intensity of Rob Wright he has now created this well crafted 6′ 10″ midlength for the talented Liam Nichol.

Rob says of James “Im pleased with his first shape for Slide 65. James knows how important it is to create the very best handshaped boards both in design and quality of finish, and I will push him hard to develop his shaping skills further during this year. For sure he needs a left hand eject planer as he is still rubbing the dust from his eyes!”
